Zum Baeren Landhotel

The food was a highlight: we had a great breakfast with lots of choices, then dinner with lovely wine and food. The family hotel is in charming Balduinstein, close to the river, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious, very clean, and had a romantic feel. Since this is a bear hotel, there was a cute bear waiting on the bed. I truly recommend the hotel and restaurant.

I really enjoyed the hotel’s decor and took lots of photos, especially of the window nook on the second floor landing, with its elegant woodwork and lighting. A chess board was there one day. I sat and read my Upanishads, sometimes looking out at the forest-framed river or the medieval clock tower, with mountains and sky all around. The hotel sits by the Lahn, with lovely walks along the river through the woods or the quaint village, where you can see castle ruins. Service was very good, too. I came back late after an event and just wanted a light dinner, so I ordered vegetable soup. Even that simple bowl was memorable, with delicate, refined flavors, and it was very satisfying. My small single room was quaint, clean, cozy, and laid out conveniently. I also loved the decorative teddy bear and the quality chocolate snacks. The bathroom had an elegant, modern chrome-and-marble look and was laid out with all conveniences.

What a lovely place, with great food and owners who are even better. Joachim and Corina are great people, and the food and drinks are amazing.

A real gem of a restaurant in Rhein-Lahn-Kreis, with fine dining at its best. Highly recommended for a romantic night out, especially in summer when you can eat in the beautiful outdoor area.
