We ate lava cake number 17 at Restaurant Poseidon on 31.07.2024, as part of our around-the-world lava cake side quest. It seems the restaurant has since closed permanently, but we wanted to leave the review anyway. Rating: 3 out of 5. The cake sadly had no lava. The vanilla ice cream was suuuuper good, though, and the berry jam and fresh orange slice went really well with it. Still, it wasn't really a lava cake.

The hotel is in a perfect, very central spot, and the receptionist was nice and friendly. Our room was clean, but too small, and at €80 for one Friday night, we didn't feel the price matched what we got. There were no toiletries, coffee or tea bags, just the basics. That's why we give it three stars.

I stayed here a few years ago, before covid, when reception was staffed. This time I arrived late in the evening and nobody was there. I had to make many phone calls to get the code to enter the hotel and room. With my mobility issues, standing outside in the rain for over 40 minutes wasn't fun. The chairs were chained together, so I couldn't sit down. Once I got inside, everything was fine, and the room was lovely.

The location is a real treasure. Check-in and checkout were smooth, the place was neat, and the Wi-Fi was good.

The location is the best part, right in the middle of Bamberg and just minutes from anything you might want to do. Staff are nice, and breakfast is plentiful and good. The rooms are clean but a little dated. Some don't have their own shower, though there's a shared one on the floor.
