Arkadenhotel im Kloster

The building is beautiful, the location is good, and the rooms were clean. Staff were friendly and breakfast was great. But the guests were noisy, and in a 40-degree heat wave there was no fan or air conditioning. The photos seem rather old, and the garden looked sad and neglected, with the terrace parasols long gone. Parking costs 12€/day, which I don't think is too expensive. I'd say it's good value overall.

The hotel sits at the top of a hill, so with heavy luggage you might want to take a taxi from the train station, though it's still walkable. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean and cosy. A full continental breakfast came with a glass of fizz, which was a nice surprise! :)

We booked a four-person room through booking based on the website listing two double beds. What we got was one double bed and a really uncomfortable sofa bed. When I raised it with reception, they didn't help. Since we arrived late and had nowhere else to go, we had to use that room. The hotel offered no compensation or other way to make the stay better. Reception blamed booking, but checking that site's terms made it clear the hotel was responsible for the wrong information. I contacted the hotel directly by email and got no reply. Since it was a matter of principle for me, I called once more and finally spoke to the manager. She just yelled that I needed to stop calling. Some hospitality. Take my advice, stay away!

The first impression was good, but the room was dull and the soundproofing was awful. Someone in the room next door had the TV on, and it felt like it was playing in my room while I was trying to sleep. The bathroom is tiny, and the shower sits under a sloped roof, making it hard to stand up. The shower head is no good either. For the price, honestly, it wasn't good value.
