The room was spotless and very comfortable, though I did miss having a kettle for a cuppa, perhaps a British preference. We loved staying at Hotel Europa in Bamberg. It’s a short walk to the train station, market, and beautiful old town. Our room was on the fourth floor with one short flight of stairs at the end, which was fine for us. It had attic-style eaves, and I bumped my head once, part of the character of a historic building, I suppose. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Breakfast was €15 per person at the time and had a great range of options. I’d recommend adding it to your stay. They provided gluten-free pastries and bread for my companion with coeliac disease, though the spoken guidance about which buffet items contained gluten could have been clearer. At the hotel restaurant Kleehof, the gluten-free dinner dishes were clearly labelled, which was reassuring.

The staff really made the stay: Elinor gave us a friendly check-in and hotel introduction, Doris surprised us at breakfast and shared some tips for our next visit, and Melissa looked after us at breakfast. We stayed in a guest house room that I think had recently been refurbished. It was very comfortable, and parking was convenient. The hotel is close to the old town center. Definitely recommend it.

The front desk staff made us feel welcome. We had a wonderful weekend in Bamberg, staying somewhere cozy and clean, an easy walk from the train station and quiet enough to be away from the town center.

The restaurant was nice, with a great selection of food and drinks. The hotel itself was very clean and tidy, with helpful, friendly staff, and a great location near central Bamberg.
