Monello Apartments

Clean, nice, and comfortable.

We had a chic, very clean apartment for two adults and three kids. Parking right outside was convenient, and we could explore Bamberg on foot from this perfect location.

The apartment was clean and tidy when we arrived, and we appreciated the fresh water bottles and little candies in the hallway. There were plenty of towels and toilet paper, though no soap dispenser. It was nicely furnished, if a bit dated in places. The shower head was clogged with limescale and barely let water through, possibly because the building has low water pressure. There’s no dining room or shared space, but several bakeries are nearby. We were in Bamberg for a short break, and the apartment worked well enough for sleeping while we spent most of our time out. I’d say it suits a city visit or active holiday better than a relaxing one. The room got very hot in warm weather, so we had to air it out a lot, but opening the windows brought in very loud street noise from Luitpoldstraße. With the windows shut, we barely heard anything outside. There was also a dull techno beat through the walls every night, from an unknown source. Nearby are two kebab shops and a casino across the street. Our place was only partly suited to traveling with a small child. It had a double bed and a sofa bed in one room. Blackout curtains were there, but there was no door separating the room from the hall and kitchen, so light came in from that side until sunset and we couldn’t darken it. The hotel has separately bookable parking, but the spaces are very tight and seem better for confident parkers. Larger SUVs would probably struggle too.

The room was nice and the bed was good, but the toilet hadn’t been cleaned when we arrived. The spoons break, the shower soap wasn’t replenished, and there was no dish sponge. The worst part, probably only in the attic rooms, is the raised floor. If someone walks underneath while you’re trying to sleep, the bed shakes like a herd of cattle is jumping on it. I couldn’t sleep.
