Apartment Landhotel Zum Storchennest

We had a really nice stay as a family and would come back. The place felt warm and inviting, with cute bedrooms upstairs and a distinctive winding staircase. The only downside was that we couldn’t get Wi-Fi upstairs. It did make it easier to focus on resting, at least. I’ve stayed at a few hotels in Germany, and this one has been my favorite so far. It felt cozy and unique.

We spent several weeks in the apartment while searching for a home to rent, and it was one of our best experiences while living in Germany. Breakfast was included and wonderful. The room was a little small, but worked fine for the two of us and our large yellow lab.

Wednesday is schnitzel abend, with around two dozen varieties to choose from. My favorites were the princess schnitzel with white asparagus and cheese, the lumberjack with onions and a fried egg, and the Alsatian with camembert and cranberries. Each came with salad bar and a potato of your choice. The food is delicious, and on a nice day you can eat outside and might spot a stork or two, just as the name suggests. Koso is the only waitress we’ve had, and she’s personable, funny, and works hard. Service can still be slow because it’s a small operation. We’ve waited ten-fifteen minutes just for a drink, so come hungry, the portions are large, and consider making a reservation since it gets busy.

I slept on the floor in the other room after the room given to us for our family was like an ashtray. It felt like it could cause cancer to anyone staying there. My family included children aged 5 and 7, but we were put on two separate floors. The managers had two rooms next to each other, yet refused to give them to us because they were waiting for another family. I don’t know why that family qualified for adjacent rooms over ours. DO NOT STAY HERE.
