Best Western Hotel Ambassador

We found plenty of parking, both out front and in the underground garage, and the area felt safe. The hotel is close to the city's commercial and entertainment center, with nice views on either side. Breakfast was pretty good, and there was free coffee and tea throughout the day. The staff were professional. Rooms were spacious and comfortable, although one had a strong medicinal smell that we couldn't get rid of even with the windows wide open for half a day. A good place for a night or two.

The man at reception was polite and helpful. That was the only good part. The woman at the desk was sprawled in her chair using her phone and wasn't helpful. One person seemed to be handling everything, and our key hadn't been programmed by the time we reached the room. At midnight, the family room was easily 30C, with no AC and just one small fan. I called reception for another fan, but the phone was broken. The mattress felt like a plank, the pillows flattened to nothing, there were no extras in the cupboard, and the duvets were tiny. Everything in the hotel is VERY old. Maybe it was nice once, but at €130 a night it's unacceptable. Even at €50, it would've felt like poor value.

The staff were friendly, so no issue there. The reception decor was odd, and the rooms carried that same look, like a nineties leisure center in the wrong way. The entrance is narrow, and people smoke right outside, leaving the reception area smelling of cigarettes. Didn't make much of an impression.

We froze all night, with below-zero temperatures outside, because the heating in both my room and my friend's was set to 0 when we arrived. The rooms are pretty awful, and the mold on the bathroom mirror looks so old that standard cleaning probably won't remove it.
