Gut Hohenholz

The hotel and venue are lovely, and the food was very good. The room and facilities were clean and comfortable too, but the service during our stay left us so unhappy that I wouldn't return or recommend it for a wedding. The bride and groom were put under undue stress on their wedding day, which is not acceptable. There was building work going on until about two hours before the wedding, and it began at 7 AM that day. It caused stress and discomfort for the wedding party and guests. The room for the wedding meal had been set up a day early and looked beautiful, but with the work continuing and the doors open, dust and dirt had already settled over the room, including the tables, plates, and glasses. Bad weather meant the ceremony had to be moved to the gazebo. Staff didn't help set it up or offer assistance. The groom and some guests had to arrange it themselves and ask twice for more chairs. Rubbish and broken furniture were around the gazebo. The rubbish was cleared, but guests had to move the furniture themselves so it wouldn't show during the ceremony. Some staff were also very rude, despite the number of guests staying and the amount of money spent. During the apero, one guest even had to ask that recycling be paused while the bride and groom had their photos taken, because the noise was spoiling the atmosphere. Many of us felt the wedding was an inconvenience to the hotel and that the party wasn't treated with respect. If the hotel wants to host weddings at this beautiful location, it needs to significantly improve its service, starting with the attitude of some staff.
