Land-gut-Hotel Hermann

The breakfast was filling, though nothing special. The rooms are small and cramped, with old wooden furniture, and they were noisy and hot. There wasn’t a coffee maker, kettle, or fridge. Getting to the hotel along the access road was difficult. Reception staff didn’t understand English, and their behavior brought down my impression of the place. Some people might be fine with it, but I was hoping for something fancier. Good luck.

The hotel is in a quiet area with a nice green garden to walk around. The Wi-Fi is free, but it comes through a Starlink dish that doesn’t seem well placed. The average speed was around 1 MB/s when it stayed connected. I hope they enable Quality Of Service someday so the speed is better and shared more fairly, though I can’t complain too much since it’s free. There was dust and spiderwebs in our room, so it didn’t seem to have had a deep clean. Paint was peeling in several places, and the two-person room was at the top with slanted walls. The wooden floor squeaked everywhere. The hotel building and the old hotel with the restaurant aren’t connected inside, so you have to go outdoors to reach the pool or restaurant. A staff woman barged into the men’s changing room and then yelled that the pool was about to close. We were only four minutes past closing time, and a knock and an apology would have been nice. There was also a wedding party, apparently using some kind of smoke machine. Smoke gathered in the hallways and set off the alarm at 1 AM. In my opinion, staff let it get to that point, then didn’t follow the steps afterward and left everyone in their rooms.

We got there just 15 minutes before the kitchen closed after a long drive, but they still took our order. Dinner was really nice, the portions were huge, and the prices were good.

The staff were so friendly, and it’s a beautiful location. I really enjoyed the pool, sauna, and breakfast. The only downsides were the poor Wi-Fi and having to rent bathrobes because they don’t provide them.
