The food and the way it was presented really impressed me, and our young Ukrainian waitress was so polite and attentive while helping us choose. It was lovely talking with her. There were only two waitresses covering a huge dining room, which seemed odd, even though their service was excellent. I hope they’re properly rewarded for all that effort. The plates were in awful shape. At first I thought mine had been chipped by mistake, but everyone at our table got one in similarly bad condition. The furniture was worn too, especially the chairs. I visited a week ago, and I’d still come back. Hopefully management will make some changes.

Breakfast was the highlight, especially the honeycomb, which we loved. We also had a good dinner at the restaurant. Our room was clean and comfortable, though a little dated, and the pillows were too thin for us. We stayed one night before visiting the memorial at Bergen Belsen.

The kitchen and service are what make this place stand out. They even accommodate special requests, like an early breakfast before a very early departure. The restaurant is a top spot in the "Süd-Heide" for Hirschbraten or roast goose, along with the usual fare, and the good beer and wine selection goes nicely with a meal. It also fits the rustic countryside around Bergen-Offen well. There’s more than enough parking, and the rooms are clean and modern.

We stopped in during a trip to Belsen and the war memorial. The staff were welcoming and very attentive, and the traditional German meal was generous and really tasty. A German beer with it was just right.

The menu is small, but the quality really comes through. I brought my wife here for a meal and it was first class. The service was friendly and attentive. I’d recommend giving them a try.
