Abion Villa Suites

We had a fantastic one-week stay and would definitely book another trip here. The breakfast was brilliant, there’s a wonderful biomarkt next door, and excellent Italian restaurants nearby. The hotel also has secure underground parking accessible from the foyer. It’s a perfect, quiet location, a little off the beaten track, but you can walk or take a quick train ride east or west. Bellevue station is only a 5 minute walk away. I can’t comment on some negative reviews, but our stay was fantastic.

My husband booked a suite for the Berlin marathon through Expedia, and we paid Expedia directly. We understood we’d only owe the hotel taxes at checkout, and the hotel confirmed that at both check-in and checkout. After we got back to the US, though, the hotel charged us the exact booking cost TWO EXTRA times. The first charge was removed, but the second stayed. We called to ask for an invoice. The desk representative said they couldn’t provide one unless a manager was available, after we’d spent 20 minutes on hold and run up exorbitant international calling fees. They didn’t offer to call us back. We emailed three times, and only on the third try did they send an invoice showing the overcharging. Amex resolved the issue, with no help from the hotel. The room and breakfast were great, but the payment handling permanently ruined what had been a good stay. I’ll never stay here again. I’ve never had a worse hotel customer service experience.

I paid for an executive deluxe room with large windows and a large bed, but at check-in they put me on the underground floor. It had a small window, with the river level with the bed on the other side of it. The receptionist said they’d sold all the rooms I booked and that I should stay in the basement, even though I’d paid for a premium room.

The room was spacious, with a great view of the area’s modern buildings, and I’d been upgraded unexpectedly. The bathroom was spacious too, and all amenities were included. Breakfast was high class, with a variety of cold cuts, fish, cheese, and German wurste, plus good coffee. Service was very polite and fast. It’s a wonderful part of Berlin and a convenient location for getting anywhere. Bellevue station is a 5 minutes’ walk away, right at the door. First class hotel.
