The location made it easy to explore. I took a tram from the train station to Schwedter Strasse or Zionskirche, then walked about 10 minutes. Lidl is close, and Mitte or the Fernsehturm is roughly a 30-minute walk. The neighborhood is worth exploring too. I especially liked Kulturbrauerei, about 10 minutes away, with a cinema, concert hall, free museum, and probably plenty more. I loved the atmosphere there. The fourth floor room was quiet, and the kitchen and common room noise I heard was normal for a hostel and didn't bother me. The kitchen can get crowded at rush hour, but I could always use what I needed, and people were friendly. It's really well equipped. The staff were welcoming from the start, helpful with recommendations, and happy to chat. I didn't go to the events, but they organized them and made it clear I could join. My first solo trip went well, and I felt everything at the hostel was taken care of. I'd stay here again when I come back to Berlin. I booked a solo room because it was my first time traveling alone and I wanted extra quiet. It was on the fourth floor, big, and had a double bed plus a single, more than I expected. All the outlets worked, although a few were a bit wonky. There was an odd smell that I blamed on the oil diffusser, which looked fancy. I stopped noticing it after a couple of minutes and didn't feel bothered enough to ask about it. The big window was lovely for waking up to natural light, though you'll want an eye mask if you don't like that. The mattress was thinner than I'm used to at home, but I slept really well. I hadn't found room-lock information online, but the key card worked every time. The bathroom on that floor was really nice. Its shower stall closes fully, giving you space to get changed and leave your clothes before stepping into the shower. I was worried there'd be nowhere private to change, but there was plenty of room. I can't say what the bathrooms on other floors are like. I'm glad my first solo trip worked out. There is still so much for me to explore in Berlin, and I'll stay here again.
