Hotel Neuer Fritz Berlin

The location is handy for lots of restaurants and tourist attractions. The reception area looks modern and nice, but getting to the room means passing through a cold corridor that feels a bit like a parking garage. The rooms are okay for space and have most of the amenities you'd need, but they aren't special and feel old. The hotel itself is kind of strange. I wouldn't stay here again because I prefer a little more luxury, though the location is good.

The room smelled like pipes when I walked in, so I had to keep the windows open. The reception lady wasn't great either. The rooms are clean, sure, but very worn, and the pillows are so soft that they weren't good for sleeping. I wouldn't pick this hotel again. It wasn't a favorite.

The location is hard to beat. There are plenty of places to eat nearby, transport is close, and the river cruises are practically at the front door. We bought a five-day pass from the ticket machines for 44 euros per person, covering trams, buses, and trains. Our stay included breakfast, with a lovely cook there each day and a buffet with a good range of food. Patricia and Hyden at reception were so friendly and professional that we felt everything would go smoothly from the start. Our room was clean and comfortable, with big casement windows that opened wide and a bench where we could sit and watch Berlin life go by. Once the windows were shut, it was quiet. The bed was great and the pillows were very soft. We loved our stay and had no complaints. I'd definitely recommend room 16.

The hotel is only on level 3, and the location is the one real plus. The receptionist argued with me over an error that was on their end, even though I was just pointing it out. They complained to me about how hard it would be to fix, as if that were my problem. The beds were okay, but the pillows were thinner than digestives. There was mould in the shower, and the air conditioning didn't work.
