IntercityHotel Berlin Hauptbahnhof

We had a great stay. The hotel is clean and well maintained, and its strategic location makes it a convenient base for visiting different parts of Berlin. The breakfast and drinks were good quality, with enough options for the price.

I've stayed three times, and each visit brought something I had to report. On the first, the hotel charged my card three times. Several emails through the website got no reply, and the charges only resolved on their own after a week. The second time, there were footprints on the floor, no toilet tissue, and the air-conditioning controller was coming away from the wall. On my last visit, neither the air conditioning nor the hairdryer worked. There were no spare pillows, so reception gave me some to carry upstairs, and I also had to take towels to my room myself. The room isn't serviced daily. Reception staff are professional and friendly enough, though I found the older gentleman curt. Still, it's cheap and cheerful, five minutes from Berlin Hauptbahnhof, and you can walk to most major attractions with plenty of places to eat along the way. It's the convenient station location, plus a bit of Stockholm syndrome, that will probably bring me back.

The room was clean, and the location is great. But there doesn't seem to be anyone who cares about you as a hotel guest. The paid luggage lockers are one example. Charging for them is fine, but they've set up a self-service system that's a nightmare to use and takes an extra ten minutes of trying to work your way through it.

It's high-end, clean, and comfortable, with easy access to the train station, about 30 minutes from the airport. Getting into the city on foot or by public transport is easy too. I'd stay here again. Just be careful on the bathroom floor when it's wet, as it can get a little slippery.
