When we left the hotel, I realized I’d left my gold bracelet and ring on the table in the room. German police wouldn’t let me back in at first. After a long argument, an officer came up with me, but the room had been cleaned in just ten minutes and my things were gone. I filed a complaint with the German police about that too, and the whole thing was extremely frustrating. The kitchen the staff member said we’d broken is shown here. We were a group of nine people from Israel. Reception was friendly when we arrived, but after I showed my Israeli passport, I noticed a change in the receptionist’s expression and the treatment got noticeably worse. After we went to our rooms, that change continued. They even singled out our sick, crying child. The next day, a staff member accused us of breaking the kitchen, without any evidence, and asked us to leave. We felt we were treated harshly and unfairly by hotel staff because of racism. The police they called also treated us in a discriminatory way. They spoke German, which we couldn’t fully understand, and we felt afraid of them. We didn’t receive a full refund. More than 4,000 euros were kept after part of the amount was deducted, with no clear explanation. I complained to the Israeli Embassy in Berlin about the racist treatment and said I wanted the case followed through to the end and brought to the media’s attention. This was a painful and unjust experience. Guests should be treated with respect whatever their religion or nationality, and I believe what happened should be addressed to prevent it happening again. I don’t recommend that any Israeli visit this racist, anti-Semitic hotel, and I’ll hold it accountable.

We missed our layover and got stuck, so we booked this place at random. What a pleasant surprise: the suite was huge, clean, nicely decorated, and well stocked. The staff were friendly, and it’s in a nice part of town.

We only spent one night here with our seven-month-old, but we had a lovely stay. The place has a really charming feel, and the staff seemed eager to help, which I appreciated as an American living in Germany. I know the pros and cons of staying in places around the world, and Germany isn’t especially known for customer service. Step outside and you’re right in a shopping hub, with a great choice of restaurants. It’s a really good option.
