Raststättenhotel Grunewald

The breakfast had a decent selection, with enough of everything, and the price was very good. The hotel was really clean and surprisingly quiet given how close it is to the highway. It’s also very convenient for the S-Bahn station, with trains towards Potsdam and Berlin.

A lovely little trip back in time. The toilet setup is very old-fashioned, including the staff, and there’s no forced payment at the entrance. Instead, there’s a classic plate on a low table where you can leave a tip.

The hotel itself is very warm and comfortable, but the staff were unfriendly and dismissive. The next morning at breakfast, half the food was missing. I asked someone to make scrambled eggs, and she said they were finished from the day before and there was no more. I let it go, but about ten minutes later, five or six other customers asked the same thing and got the same answer. Then she came back with as many eggs as you could eat. It seemed like she just didn’t want the hassle of cooking. The staff were not very nice, and I won’t go back.

Nice atmosphere and well-mixed drinks. If you’re in the area and thirsty, or just tired and need a rest, I can recommend it.
