Regent Berlin

We were especially frustrated at checkout. The Front Office Manager refused to issue an invoice, even though Booking.com had confirmed that Regent was responsible for providing it. We had to leave without one, and his stubborn, unhelpful response seriously hurt our experience. The rest didn't justify the premium price either. The hotel advertises a spa, but what we found was only a small sauna and a basic gym, despite a full spa being one of the main reasons we chose it. The interiors and rooms also feel very dated, with a Marie Antoinette era look that might once have been charming but felt disappointing in 2024. Breakfast was adequate, but the cooking and service fell short. The kitchen struggled with Eggs Benedict, and some mornings we waited up to ten minutes for coffee because staff overlooked us. Taken together, Regent didn't meet our expectations, and anyone considering a substantial spend on a premium stay may want to look elsewhere.

The restaurant and bar were very good, and the staff were lovely. They gave us lots of helpful restaurant recommendations. The hotel has a grand marble entrance and an old money feel, plus very comfortable beds and l’occitane toiletries. Superb location!

The waffles at breakfast were the part I kept looking forward to. Light and fluffy, with lots of toppings, they were a real treat. Service was excellent too: everyone was attentive, polite, and keen to make us comfortable. Our room was spacious and elegantly decorated, and the Regent Berlin has a timeless, sophisticated feel. One small letdown was finding out the minibar wasn't complimentary. I expected that might be included at a luxury hotel, and with the price of the stay it was a bit inconvenient, though not a major issue. Even so, I really enjoyed the stay and would recommend Regent Berlin for a luxurious visit in the heart of the city.

For what the hotel charges, the rooms feel tired: old lighting and furniture, yellow walls, and heavy curtains like something from a third-rate theatre. The spacious bathroom was the exception, modern and superb. The staff were flawless, the lobby decor was grand, and a small special request of mine was handled quickly and with a smile. That's the proud luxury hotel charm at its best.
