For anyone Shomer Shabbos, I’d consider this an appropriate place to stay. The doors lock electronically, but staff were very receptive to the idea of a shabbos goy and were happy to play along and check that things were in order. The rooms don’t have occupancy sensors, and there’s an unlocked side door at the main entrance that isn’t electronic. One possible snag is that the stairwell lights come on when you open the door. You could ask the hotel to disable that, and I expect they’d agree. I didn’t ask, and happened to wait until someone else used the elevator. The central ashkenazi shul is just around the corner, and chabbad is a reasonable walk of about 30-ish minutes. My stay at SANA Berlin exceeded my expectations. Some things are a little worn, but everything was clean and working. The staff impressed me most: professional, friendly, and accommodating. The location is pretty good, next to one of Berlin’s city centers and easy to reach from the airport. There were more amenities than I expected, and they made the stay comfortable. Good value for money.

Grocery shopping nearby is the one small drawback. There aren’t great stores right around the corner, though Rewe is just a walk away and has what you need. The hotel itself is conveniently placed, with easy access to the U-Bahn and a walk to Zoologische. Our room was great: air conditioning, heated floors, a very nice bathroom, and both blackout and mesh blinds. It’s a good choice if you want to stay downtown without being right in the middle of everything.
