The Base Berlin ONE

The stay was pretty good apart from the room problems. The bedroom drain didn’t work and there was nothing to stop the water, so the apartment flooded on our first morning. That room clearly shouldn’t have been rented out before the issue was fixed. We were moved to another room the next day, but had to wait until 15.00. It was a big inconvenience, and I think some compensation would have been fair. The replacement room also had drain problems, so those really need fixing.

The service was inconsistent, and the price felt too high for the location. It was frustrating dealing with management: their team didn’t seem coordinated, and the policy details I got by email conflicted with what was listed online. Reception said they’d call me back, then repeatedly stopped responding. The room didn’t feel worth the money either. The utensils were low quality and not properly clean. You have to travel to reach central areas, where I think you can find much better places for the same price. The coworking space is decent, but the lively community they advertise isn’t really there.

I was running late and hadn’t received my digital key cards before check-in. The person on the phone walked me through it all and was amazing. The room was clean and spacious, the bathroom spotless, and everything else was perfect.

I’m rewriting this because Base recently removed my original review, possibly because it didn’t include the final update. I lived there about 1.5 years ago, and my deposit didn’t come back within the promised 6 weeks after checkout. Getting a clear, timely answer from management was difficult too. Eventually they replied and asked me to wait another 5 business days, saying my case was a priority. Even after that, I waited around 10 more working days without getting the deposit. It was only returned after I followed up again. All the delays and lack of communication made the whole process stressful and frustrating.
