The accommodation was clean and functional, so that part was fine. The way the owner handled things really spoiled the stay. She wouldn't give us a proper invoice when we arrived, which felt unprofessional and unclear. Our Booking.com price was €78.40, but we were charged €98.40 at the property. When I pointed out the difference, she acknowledged a mistake, but seemed annoyed rather than apologetic and answered curtly. Being shown one price online and then charged more after the booking was settled left me feeling completely cheated. I've never had that happen, not even in the bazaars of Istanbul. Two stars for the accommodation, and zero for the business practices.

The breakfast was excellent, with cold cuts, cheese, eggs, homemade jam and fresh rolls. The hosts were happy to ask whether we had any special requests, and we could park right in front of the house. Our room was well equipped and very clean, with a walk-in closet, a fridge stocked with wine, water, beer and other drinks, plus a coffee machine. There was also a little TV area with an armchair and sofa, separate from the sleeping space. The hosts were very friendly. It's a wonderfully quiet residential area, about 2 km from Bernkastel-Kues, a five-minute drive or roughly a 30-minute walk. Perfect!
