Bescheider Mühle Hotel & Restaurant

The house is beautifully decorated, with so much care put into it, and there’s plenty of room. It’s a lovely spot by the woods and lake, and a good starting point for trips to the Moselle villages, Trier, and Luxembourg. Check-in was by code, so we only met the owners when we checked out. We wished we’d asked to stay a little later, and they kindly agreed. There’s also a high chair, crib, and baby tub. Highly recommended!

The apartments felt very modern, and I think they’d been renovated recently. We stayed in both the old bakehouse and the apartment next door, and each had underfloor heating and other modern features. You can tell a lot of effort went into furnishing them. The area is very peaceful, with few houses apart from a nearby riding stable or horse farm. The pond and garden are nice to walk around, though the surroundings still looked a little bare when we visited, since the deciduous trees were only just starting to come into leaf in spring. There’s a large gravel parking lot in front, plus a separate fenced area by the pond for about six cars, possibly more. The stream by the old waterwheel is the one drawback: it gets loud when the windows are open, almost like a range hood running. The windows insulate well, and the stream can’t be heard from the other sides of the house. Wi-Fi is available, but it kept dropping out depending on where we were. I’m an IT professional, and I suspect the repeaters may not have been configured or positioned well, rather than there being a general internet connection problem. Still, you’re there to relax, not spend all your time online, and perhaps it’ll be fixed later.

The owners were friendly, helpful, and easy to reach, which added to a really relaxing holiday. Five siblings and I spent a week at the "Altes Backhaus" (Old Bakehouse) after Easter, with beautiful, peaceful surroundings and fantastic weather. Inside, the apartment was bright, spacious, and spotlessly clean, with modern, comfortable furnishings. There was plenty of matching crockery, glasses, dishes, and pots, more than enough for all of us. Thank you for such a lovely week.
