Landhaus Keller

The place is easy to reach and packed with equipment. There are so many lamps, glasses, dishes, and bits of cutlery that it feels a little like a flea market. The landlady was somewhat pushy, with several phone calls. Before we could really start the holiday, we had to vacuum the living room, wipe dirt and dried dog food off the kitchen, and unclog the bathroom sink. The building was certified 5-star in 2023, but seems to be left to decay. Some door handles are loose and regularly come off when you close a door. Picture frames are empty, and there are cobwebs and mummified insects in corners, door frames, lamps, and frames. The terrace is falling apart. The warped patio door won't shut properly, leaving a finger-width gap at the bottom that lets cold air into the living room. The heating barely comes on, so the apartment feels damp and cold unless you light the tiled stove. Apart from the modernized bathroom, the furnishings are dated. The kitchen looks like it may be from the 1960s, and the appliances seem to have been replaced about 30 years ago. The oven's convection setting is broken. The extractor hood was coated in grease, and had to be cleaned so it wouldn't smell like a chip shop when switched on. There was a brown, slimy, moldy anti-slip mat in the shower, and the tiles beneath it were slippery. We had to clean the shower before using it too. 🙄 With the washing machine's detergent drawer completely moldy, I don't even want to think about the germ count on the towels and bed linens. 😬

The view was stunning, and having breakfast out on the terrace each morning was wonderful. We were three adults and two dogs, with plenty of room, lovely bedrooms, and a cozy feel throughout. We went on lots of walks and had a great time here. It couldn't have been better.

The garden is large, and the terrace is spacious. We always had a friendly person to contact, and the Keller family made us feel very welcome. We've stayed in lots of holiday homes, but this was easily the nicest one, with excellent amenities. We really enjoyed our time in Bischofsmais.

Bodenmais is a small, charming place, and the spa park's meditation path was a highlight. This is a good spot to unwind if you're looking for a real break. The country house dates from the late 60s or early 70s and has lots of charming touches. Its spacious rooms, excellent mattresses, and cozy feel made for a restful stay. The tiled stove warmed the place well, and firewood was kept in the large garage, which also had room for the car. The kitchen is dated, but has what you need, including plenty of dishes, a dishwasher, microwave, stove, refrigerator, coffee maker, and more.
