Hotel Bitburg

I was honestly glad to leave. I ended up here on a group trip, and the rooms weren't cleaned. Everything felt dated and faded. Allergies that had been passed on weren't taken into account, and I felt nauseous every day, with diarrhea and vomiting. The staff were anything but friendly, and the people behind the bar seemed like they didn't want to be there.

The manager didn't apologize or do anything to fix what happened, which made the service dreadful. On our second day, we found an old, filthy hairbrush in the bathroom. Someone had clearly used the bathroom during our stay, and it also looked like someone had lain in my bed. The room and bathroom were disgusting, and the mattress and pillows felt horrible, like they were 50 years old. The whole hotel was dated, unclean, and felt unsafe. It was the worst hotel I've stayed in, like being in Eastern Europe during the Cold War. It shouldn't be allowed to take guests.

The staff were great, approachable, and helpful. Rooms look dated but were really clean. The bar's selection is limited, though there are some nice options. Dinner had a different menu each day, and the food was simple but good quality. The nearby area is being developed, but there wasn't any real construction noise. It may be more interesting in the future, and the Eifel is lovely to explore by car or motorcycle. Luxembourg, Trier, and the Nürburgring are all within an hour's drive.

The friendly staff and cozy bar and biergarten were the best parts. At 110+ € a day, though, I felt the hotel was a ripoff and one of the worst values I've had around the world. There's no air conditioning, microwave, or fridge. The beds are twins only and come with comforters and duvets, but no sheets. Rooms don't get properly cleaned regularly, just a comforter fold and fresh towels. Worst of all, the internet was basically nonexistent. It would suit someone looking for a hostel, but not at that price. The staff themselves were excellent and friendly.
