Breakfast was good, and the lobby has drinks and light snacks for sale around the clock, plus a water-filtering machine. The central location is excellent, and it seems like the best hotel in Bochum. Some rooms don't come with a safe or fridge unless you upgrade, and the lighting in the rooms is dim. The A/C mostly blew hot air when I tried it, though opening the window cooled things down. That meant I could hear loud ambulance sirens in the morning and church bells. There's just one iron for the whole hotel, kept in the gym on the 1st floor, so you have to take your clothes there to iron them.

Being right in the heart of the city was a plus, but my three-night stay at the Mercure Hotel in Bochum was quite disappointing. The room was tiny and had a rather upsetting view. Even basic amenities weren't provided, and I had to request simple things separately. It didn't meet the standard I expected from a Mercure hotel, though the location made up for some of what was missing.

A solid option for a business trip. The room was clean and modern, the bathroom had decent space, and the WiFi was fast. Breakfast had a better-than-average selection to suit different tastes.

A nice hotel with friendly people at reception and the bar, including the breakfast crew. They even have some fancy robots for cleaning and serving small things.

The location is convenient, but parking costs a lot and the elevator took ages. Rooms were clean, though there was no minibar and the coat hangers were the anti-theft kind. The staff were friendly, if sometimes a bit slow. Breakfast wasn't worth it. The tea selection was better, but the scrambled eggs were over-salted and seemed to come from a box. Juice from the machine tasted bad, and the coffee did too. The food selection was a little better than a YMCA's, but below an average bakery.
