Villa Arosa Ostseetraum

We stayed in apartment 4a (Kiel), which is close to the beach, less than five minutes on foot. Boltenhagen’s center is about a twenty-minute walk away. The balcony is the best part, with a direct sea view, greenery around it, a parasol, and comfortable chairs with cushions. The apartment has a stove, oven, coffee maker, toaster, kettle, hairdryer, radio, television, and Wi-Fi, but the furnishings are plain and quite worn. The bathroom was okay, though it could have been cleaner. Cleanliness overall was disappointing: there were wall cracks and cobwebs, dusty corners, and dirty dishes in some kitchen cupboards. We also hadn’t been told that bed linen and towels weren’t provided. It’s probably fine for a few days if you’re not expecting luxury, but at this price I expected a cleaner place.

We felt very comfortable here and would gladly return. The cliffs are only a short walk away, and the surrounding area is lovely for walks and hikes. The apartment is near the Baltic Sea, with a broad meadow in view and two balconies, one facing south and the other west. Both bedrooms have a double bed and wardrobe. The mattresses sag a little but are generally fine. The kitchen has a dining table and six chairs, and most of what you need, though it could use more utensils, especially kitchen knives. A small supply of flour, sugar, and salt would also have been welcome. Everything was clean and tidy.

The apartment was neat and clean, and the soundproofing was good despite the building having quite a few holiday flats. It works for two people, but we had more than that, so I wouldn’t recommend it for a larger group. The dog beach is about 200m away and Boltenhagen roughly 1km. It’s manageable, though I didn’t find the price good value.

We only managed to stay for a week and wished we could have extended it. The apartments have everything you need, so it was easy to spend time there even when the weather was bad. There’s lots of greenery, a large balcony or terrace, and a peaceful setting away from the busy center, while still being within easy walking distance of everything. Great for families with children. The owner is welcoming and friendly, reachable by phone and even willing to stop by in person. We arrived at short notice and were a bit chaotic, but Mr. Bothe was kind and understanding, and helped sort out our initial problems right away. We’ll definitely come back.
