Villa Höger

Villa Höger is a lovely house, and we’ve been returning for decades. We still had a wonderful vacation, but at €179 a day the number of things needing attention is frustrating. On one of the two terraces there are now three broken umbrella stands, and the outside lights don’t work. The sink cabinet door is hanging loose, as is the shower stall door. The living room floor lamp wobbles and can’t be touched. I couldn’t figure out how to use the stereo, and the listed espresso machine wasn’t there. The bikes are junk. It’s such a shame, and for that price these problems are annoying.

At €179 per night, I can’t recommend this place. The clothes drying rack was absolutely disgusting, and the terrace beach chair was filthy and smelled musty. The shower cubicle and bathroom door need replacing, the kitchen equipment is very basic, and the bicycles are at least 25 years old and badly need replacement. I emailed the owner but got no reply. It seems they either aren’t interested in feedback or aren’t open to criticism.

We had a convertible in the underground garage and could keep our e-bikes in a lockable storage room. Restaurants and plenty of shops are nearby, and the location right on the main promenade is fantastic. It was our first visit to Boltenhagen, for two weeks in September, in apartment number 4 of Villa Hörer. We were very satisfied: the apartment was clean and well equipped, without being overly luxurious.

The apartment itself deserves full marks. It was in good order, and there was a nice surprise waiting on the table. But the women in the office were unfriendly from the moment we arrived. When we asked about the beach chair that afternoon, they were just as unfriendly. The next day we went to pick up the Wi-Fi key, and the response was still completely rude. Dear owners, please find another agency so your guests can enjoy staying in your apartment even more.
