Dorint Hotel Bonn

The room was spotless and comfortable, and both check-in and checkout were quick and easy. Staff were extremely kind and helpful, and breakfast was varied, generous and well prepared. I spent a night on the fourth floor of the Dorint Hotel. It’s fairly close to one of Bonn’s main bridges, so it can get a little noisy with the window or balcony door open, but the river view was nice.

The smell of urine in the hallway by our “suite” was disgusting, and finding out the swimming pool had an extra fee was another unpleasant surprise. We’d booked a family room with two king-size beds, confirmed in advance, but were told on arrival it wasn’t available. The hotel called the alternative a “suite” and an upgrade, though it had just one king-size bed and an extra sofa bed. It wasn’t an upgrade at all. The sofa bed was so uncomfortable it wasn’t suitable for sleeping, and none of us slept on it. So two adults and two children had to share one king-size bed, despite what we’d booked and paid for. The front desk staff were impolite and showed no empathy or real effort to help with a problem the hotel had caused. It felt like they were doing us a favor, with no smile or attempt to make us comfortable. This experience was very disappointing. The hotel wasn’t worth the money or effort, and I strongly recommend avoiding it.

We left our EV parked at the hotel overnight, then got charged a 100€ late fee by the charging provider the next day. The hotel never told us about that fee beforehand. When I complained later, they didn’t acknowledge they’d made a mistake. The lack of communication is why I’m giving this hotel one star. Very bad!

Lovely place, and the service was especially great from Omer at reception. The staff were so friendly and helpful. See you next time 😀
