Hotel Ambiente

We loved having breakfast in the snug little room overlooking the water, and the food was delicious. The whole hotel is carefully kept and decorated in a lovely nautical style. At Christmas there were especially nice seasonal touches. It's a wonderful little place right by the water.

That gorgeous breakfast room made me feel as if I'd stepped back into the Wilhelminian era, and breakfast itself was delicious. Our room was fantastic, with a Weser River view, balcony, and a cozy reading nook. The regional, traditional furnishings suited the guesthouse feel, and the flower-filled balcony looked out romantically over the garden. We found it very relaxing. I took off a star because the booking information never made clear what the access road was like. For about 1.2 km, the narrow dike lane is a real challenge when another car comes along: there isn't room for two cars or a way to pass. We also expected to park right at the hotel, but had to use a public lot by the water, next to the train station. Honestly, knowing that in advance, I wouldn't have booked here.

The rooms are stylish and well cared for, and there's a lovely view of the Weser Canal from the front. It's a bed-and-breakfast only place, with no reception, but the breakfast is good. A very nice hotel.

The balcony looking over the Weser River was a highlight. The rooms have lots of thoughtful little details, and the breakfast room is charming too, with everything we needed for breakfast. We think of it more as a guesthouse than a hotel, though it's in a lovely spot. We removed a star because the bicycle storage room is really tiny.
