Hotel Zur Erholung

It was spacious and affordable for the area, but the place also felt a little odd and dated despite some charm. Some appliances didn’t work, and others weren’t dust-free. Breakfast was okay, though it only starts at 8am. The rooms and corridors could use more attention to upkeep.

The food was tasty and there was plenty of it, though it wasn’t Michelin standard. We used the hotel as a base for a weekend of cycling in the area. It has rooms and flats spread across several buildings, and our room was okay for what we needed, nothing fancy, just a bed to sleep in. Cleaning could have been better, with dead bugs left in the corners.

We waited an hour for our food, and when we asked about it, the male waiters were rude and sarcastic. They also kept us waiting unnecessarily when we asked for the bill. The food itself was plain and boring. If you care about good service and food, I wouldn’t recommend this place.

A rustic atmosphere that suits the Harz mountains, with tasty food and staff who were both friendly and very professional. Awesome hotel.
