a&o Bremen Hauptbahnhof - Hostel

The location is very central, and check-in was quicker than usual. Mr Yilmaz greeted me at reception and explained everything clearly. The staff were fast, friendly, and helpful, and the hostel feels very safe. Reception gives good information, and there are lockers. My room was comfortable and clean, with a nice clean bed. Spacious lobby and quick internet too. No problems at all.

The rooms and service were great, but the location is strange. The highway runs right past, so the traffic is noisy even at night and you can't do anything to stop it.

There were good parts to the stay, but check-in was a mess. The receptionist suggested a female dorm, saying it would cost only one or two euros more than the mixed dorm I'd booked. I agreed, then he charged my card an extra €4.50 without telling me. Since that was about a third of the nightly price, I asked for it back. He first asked me to write down my bank details, which I refused, and then sent the refund to my credit card. I haven't seen it on my statement yet, but I'm hoping it comes through soon. The bed I was first assigned was dirty and already used, so I had to go back to reception. Eventually I was moved to a clean room shared with just two other girls, which was a nice surprise. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. Check-out at 10 a.m. is quite early, though the warm, cosy communal area was a nice place to spend time. The internet worked well, and food and drinks were available at okay prices. There aren't lockers in the dorms, but you can rent one in the public area. I've attached a photo of the prices.
