Courtyard by Marriott Bremen

The food downstairs was genuinely good. I'd skip room service and eat in the lobby restaurant, since the food arrives cold by the time it's brought up. The hotel was under construction during my stay, and the first-floor room felt dusty. I also found the staff conduct unsettling: maintenance came in without knocking, and some employees wore street clothes and didn't identify themselves, so it wasn't clear who worked there. The location and Courtyard name set certain expectations, but the experience fell short. Hopefully management improves staff training and guest etiquette once the renovations are finished.

Our MiniBar fridge wasn't working, but Philipp Thimm sorted it out by bringing in a brand new one. I'd also like to recommend Mr Raphael Arockiasamy, who looked after the breakfast buffet with a big smile and a helpful attitude. He worked hard to make sure guest requests were handled promptly.

The staff, bar, and breakfast were great, and there is parking. Being beside the train station has its upsides and downsides. If you're driving, finding the place with GPS can be a bit chaotic.

I never expected to spend a day and night in Bremen after a train mishap, but staying at the Courtyard made things easy. It's right next to the Bremen Hauptbahnhof, near a huge central park, and only a short walk from the old city. The woman at the front desk was warm and witty. She checked me in several hours early and gave me great tips on what to see, do, eat, and drink around town.
