AVR Apartment Geestemunde 2

The location felt more like Berlin Neukölln. The food was great, and for the price the place was okay and otherwise very clean. There are useful things tucked away in the room closets too, like a clothes rack, vacuum cleaner, and iron. But the beds were really basic: the mattresses were worn out and badly sagging, and don’t even think about taking off the sheets and mattress protectors. Back pain was practically guaranteed, and the beds creaked with every move. The shower curtain was moldy and needs replacing, the kitchen cupboard needs cleaning, and the blind in the right-hand room needs fixing or replacing.

The house was extremely noisy. It stayed quiet only at night, and then the night was over by 7:00 a.m. The apartments are in a terraced house, and some of them, about 50%, are rented out too. That may be unavoidable, but it’s worth knowing before you book. The apartment had been stylishly renovated, with modern furnishings and everything equipped, which earned it two stars. Unfortunately, some areas were quite dirty, especially the bathroom, kitchen, and the windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces.

The apartment had plenty of space, and we could get to the city center in only 20 minutes without needing the car, which was great. There was also lots provided, from toilet paper and coffee to an ironing board and hairdryer, so I’m still giving it two stars. But we unfortunately wouldn’t return because of the cleanliness. We arrived yesterday with six people and found it really lacking. There were two small bottles of gin left in the cupboard by the previous owner, which is completely unacceptable, especially with children traveling with us. The mirrors were smeared. I won’t even get started on the kitchen: crumbs in the oven, dirty cupboards inside, and the outside hadn’t been wiped down. It gave the impression that only the bare minimum had been cleaned. The bathroom and beds were clean, otherwise we wouldn’t have bothered coming.

There’s a balcony, and the heating warmed up very quickly. The kitchen had all the utensils we needed, including a fridge with a large freezer compartment. The bathroom was very nice and new, and the location was great. The place was very minimally furnished but clean, apart from the bed linens, which were very stained.
