Weingut u. Gästehaus Menten

The way the hostess treated us left us feeling completely unwelcome, and it turned the stay into a one-star experience. She repeatedly told our children not to touch anything from the first day, without saying she meant fragile items or that they shouldn't break things. She even stopped my two-year-old from carrying a small plastic shovel upstairs to our room. Later, while we were out, she entered our room and threw away some special stones my son had collected. I kept quiet about that, though I was upset that she had removed his belongings. On our last morning, just before we left, she confronted us as we came downstairs for breakfast and said the children had been too loud the night before. That wasn't true, so we disputed it. She wouldn't back down or try to smooth things over, and instead brought up the children touching things on day one, before she'd announced that nothing could be touched. We asked why she'd accepted our booking if she had so many concerns about children. She said she doesn't accept bookings with children on booking.com, but didn't explain why ours had been accepted. The 15 Euro breakfast was completely spoiled while I tried not to cry, and she still wouldn't relent. Her sense of hospitality was really zero. Fortunately, the other locals were kind. Why stay with the meanest lady in the village? It might be a better stay without children and with little contact with the hostess, but beware. The room itself was pleasant and clean, with a generous bed, though a little old-fashioned. There was no shampoo or body wash, and one bedside lamp didn't work. Breakfast was fine. The location was well out on the edge of town.
