Hotel Merle

The breakfast spread was generous and varied, with food freshly prepared and mostly regional. The rooms were neat and very clean, too. This family-run hotel gives you a warm welcome. Thanks for such a lovely, restful stay. We’d be happy to return.

Ms. Barbara was there morning and evening, always friendly and ready to help. Our second-floor room was clean and had a balcony, and whenever we needed anything, she took care of it. Breakfast had plenty of variety and was very good, and dinner was just as good. When leaving, I found out that only three people run the whole place. Hats off to them! So, why wait? Book Hotel Merle in Bruttig Fankel, on the beautiful Moselle.

It’s a large place without much charm, so it felt a bit impersonal. The service was basic, and a little more help would probably have been welcome. The food was tasty and, most importantly, not over-seasoned. I’d still recommend it.

Breakfast had everything, but it was laid out without much care, and they were very stingy with the coffee powder. We were also disappointed that there was no guest card for free bus rides, as advertised almost everywhere else in the region. We had to buy a regular ticket on the bus, which was quite expensive. The room needed a lot of work. The table and chair wobbled, and the place felt like a youth hostel. The bathroom was extremely small. In the double room, you could see light through the closed sliding door, which wasn’t practical at night. There was nowhere near enough room for our suitcases and bags, and the lamps looked like they were from the 1970s. We stayed over the long weekend and were very disappointed. If we come back to the area for any reason, we won’t stay at Hotel Merle.
