A nice place for a few days, very clean, with everything you need. The restaurant was closed while we were there. In the evening, you could take a drink from the fridge, leave a note, and pay at checkout. It looked like the owners had only just taken over.

Hotel Merle, previously Weinhaus Kolb, sits a few meters off the main road, so it's very quiet. The building has been renovated and now has a state-of-the-art elevator. The rooms have also been freshly done up, and everything is spotless. There's a wide selection of wines, excellent food, and freshly tapped beer, which you can enjoy on the terrace or in the spacious interior. Breakfast is served in a cozy room, and on-site parking is free.

There's now a restaurant on the ground floor with delicious food, and freshly tapped beer too. The new owners do their best to meet every wish, and the breakfast buffet is good and fresh. We're happy with everything and already looking for an early autumn date to return by motorcycle, rather than just riding the wonderful Moselle Cycle Path. Weinhaus Kolb has a new owner and is now called Hotel Merle. A lot has been renovated and updated, including an elevator, real TVs in the rooms, and fast, stable, free internet.

There isn't much to do in the village of Fankel, unfortunately. The hotel itself is excellent, with everything in perfect order and a great breakfast buffet every morning.

The service was excellent, and we really enjoyed the food. We ate there today, and the hotel has had new owners since this year.
