Fresh rolls are practically on the doorstep, and the family lagoon is about a 10-minute walk away, with the dog beach just beyond it. The guest card also lets you ride the Crab Express for free, which is handy for families. We found the location excellent. Inside, the apartment is cozy, well cared for, and equipped with what you need. The bedroom is small but sensibly laid out, with bedside tables, a shelf, shoe rack, and outlets on both sides of the bed. The compact bathroom worked fine for us. In the living area there’s a sofa, armchair, dining table, smart TV, and a Murphy bed that folds away to make room for two more people. The kitchenette has a microwave, induction hob, toaster, kettle, coffee maker, and a fridge with a three-star freezer compartment. You can use the washer and dryer for a small fee. We also liked the terrace overlooking the garden. The property manager made us feel welcome from the start and gave us a warm goodbye hug. We felt at home. Some of the complaints we’d read beforehand didn’t match our experience. We had enough power outlets, and the Wi-Fi wasn’t fast, but we were happy to put our phones aside and read or play cards. It’s an older building, so don’t expect five-star soundproofing. We also found the staff friendly. The small bedroom seemed fair for the price, and not having a dishwasher wasn’t a big deal to us. This isn’t a modern luxury villa, but it’s a well-maintained, thoughtfully equipped apartment in a great spot. We had a relaxing holiday and would gladly return. 🌞

The area was lovely, with the dog park, beach, and mudflats nearby. We also appreciated the bread van across the street and the tram stop right outside. Apartment 16 was clean and had enough furnishings for our needs. A couple of sharper knives would help, and the kettle leaked. The Murphy bed was the bigger issue for us: its mattresses were uncomfortable, especially if you have back problems. The landlord was very friendly and accommodating when we extended our stay. We had a wonderful holiday.

We only gave the Padua apartment building 2 out of 10 because they waived the fee for our dog. The rest of our stay was a huge disappointment, and we wouldn’t return. The floor was dirty, there was dog hair in the shower, and the balcony cushions were covered in it. The bedroom was so cramped you had to climb over the bed to reach the other side. The balcony door wouldn’t close properly, the heating only worked partly, and in another apartment it had been carelessly covered with masking tape. The hallway smoke detector had been removed, which felt like a safety hazard, and the TV didn’t work. The staff member we spoke to in the morning started out friendly, but became unpleasant and even mocked our complaints once we raised the problems. A real dump, definitely not recommended. PS: Best regards to the receptionist :)

The location made the week especially easy: the beach and family lagoon/Pearl Bay are under a 10-minute walk from the door, fresh rolls and pastries are sold across the street in the morning, and the crab boat stops right outside several times a day. We were two adults and our 12-year-old, staying for a week at Haus Padua. The gable-roofed apartment had enough room for us, was clean, and had everything we needed. We felt very comfortable and wished we could have stayed longer. We can’t make sense of some of the negative reviews; they seem unfounded to us.

The little train to Büsum stops right at the door, and the guest cards we received straight away made the rides free. There’s also a bakery trailer across the street from 7 to 10 in the morning with rolls, bread, and cakes. Parking at the house is plentiful, and each of the three floors has a vacuum cleaner and a place to leave muddy boots. The apartment has plenty of books and games, a small cozy balcony, and the basics like a TV, kettle, toaster, and fridge. The two-burner cooktop is a bit limited. The hot water pressure was extremely strong, which made showering a pleasure. The two bunk beds could be softer. The fold-out sofa bed works for two, though it gets very noisy at night if both people move around, so one sleeper would be better. The Wi-Fi could use improvement; I suspect the repeaters aren’t configured properly. I also really liked the standing table at reception, very much my Steampunk style, and would have loved to take it home.
