The birdsong, the smell of wood, herbs and flowers, and the island’s little market and restaurants all add to the slow, peaceful feel. It’s a lovely place to swim, read, and unwind, and the WiFi is perfect. In summer the house stays cool even when it’s 30 degrees outside. Everything was clean and pleasant, with a feeling that reminded me of visiting my grandfather. The other guests were very polite, too. The shared kitchen has everything we needed, including tea, coffee, and spices. I know some people don’t enjoy sharing a kitchen, so Room #2 has its own mini-kitchen, separate entrance, and terrace. I’d read negative reviews that seemed to be more about winter.

One night on this amazing island is lovely, but I’d suggest staying at least two days and having absolutely nothing planned. The guesthouse is great if you want real quiet and an authentic feel. It’s a place to slow down and enjoy the island’s nature and stillness.

Breakfast on the upper deck was a highlight, with a lake view from the shared kitchen. The place is quiet and comfortable on peaceful Fraueninsel, and I really liked the deck. Just mind your head at the low doorway!

The room itself was cozy and furnished in a modern way, and the kitchen had everything we needed. The location is special, especially the garden right by the water, and it’s a lovely spot to unwind. But our room was filthy: there was residue in the toilet, hair all over the bathroom, plus stains and footprints. They replied quickly when we asked about cleaning. We were on the island until 4 pm, but when we went out for dinner, we were told they needed a key from us to clean. They offered a non-alcoholic sparkling wine to make up for it, though it wasn’t available. The room still hadn’t been cleaned while we were there, despite us staying on the island until 4 pm. For compensation, they offered us an overnight stay with breakfast, to use sometime from October to March.

The room looked lovely and cozy, and the crib they provided worked without any trouble. But in winter the cold made the stay pretty unpleasant. It was around 15 degrees in the room, so we couldn’t bring ourselves to undress or shower. Even with the radiators set to 1 when we arrived, the temperature had only reached 17 degrees after about 15 hours. Turning them up probably wouldn’t have helped. The hairdryer was the only thing that gave us a bit of warmth. The kettle didn’t help, either. The room was comfortable, though small for the price, and reasonably clean. Dust on shelves and the occasional cobweb didn’t bother me, and neither did the smoke detector lying on the windowsill instead of being mounted on the ceiling. There was no TV in the room. At least the bathroom radio could drown out some of the broken toilet’s constant gurgling. The fluffy white towels and hairdryer were nice touches, but we couldn’t use the towels because it was too cold to shower. The crib was fine, but practically useless for a more mobile child since it was broken and open on one side. Because the room was so cold, we let our child sleep in our bed so they wouldn’t get cold and catch a chill. I can’t say anything about the shared kitchen. After a short, cold night, we got out of the room and left in the morning. These rooms must be wonderful in summer, but in winter they’re uncomfortable. At this price, I’d have liked a little more attention to detail, though that’s just my opinion.
