B&B Hotel Köln-City

We stayed at the B&B with a group of colleagues on a one-day business and leisure trip. Our hosts were flexible enough to accommodate everything we asked for, from an early check-in to a late check-out. The rooms were clean and quiet, and the curtains blocked enough light for us to sleep properly. A nice experience.

The hotel is clean and modern, and it has AC, but it’s far from the city and a long walk from the tram stop into town. WiFi worked only about half the time during my four-night stay. No one explained the cleaning process to me. The only instructions were on a tiny notice, easy to miss and stuck well below eye level, so my room wasn’t cleaned and I had no fresh towels for three days. The staff were mixed, with some surly and unfriendly. If the WiFi worked, I’d rate the value higher.

At 9:00 AM on Jan 4, 2026, we went for the breakfast advertised in the elevator. An older staff member came over as we started eating. I gave her my room number and asked whether I should pay then or charge it to the room. She didn’t answer, and looked at me as if I were stealing. She insisted I pay immediately and followed me all the way to reception to watch me do it. I wouldn’t recommend anyone stay here. The rooms aren’t good anyway.

We stayed three nights and wanted fresh towels once, so we left the used ones on the floor. We hadn’t put the hanger on the door, so we expected the hotel to replace them. Nothing was there at the end of the day, but we thought we could get clean ones at reception. Instead, the man there was annoyed and unfriendly when I asked. He said I should have contacted housekeeping through a QR code. The towels we got were tiny and rough, more like floor towels than something nice to use on your skin. It’s poor service to expect hotel guests to find a hidden QR code to request this, especially when the cleaning information we received was only that paper. If the system is used, please explain it clearly and politely, and keep clean towels at reception.
