Hotel Zagreb

My first visit to Germany, and this was a great place to stay. I was close to family, which helped, and the tram down the road made getting into central Cologne easy. It’s in a suburb with a couple of bakeries, a supermarket, and a pizza restaurant. The area isn’t the best, but the price is reasonable and there are plenty of positives. Check-in was simple. A staff member working between the restaurant and hotel welcomed us and showed us the room, about 12 steps up. It was very clean and tidy, with no dust or dirt that I noticed. There was a TV, kettle, hair dryer, lamps, wardrobe, desk, and two chairs. The place was so clean, which I was really happy about. The bathroom was clean, with a good toilet, plenty of paper, shampoo, and handwash, though the handwash needed refilling. The shower worked really well, unlike the slow, stiff ones you get in some hotels. You do have to step into the cabin, and I banged my elbows in there. I’m 5ft 9, so maybe I’m just too big for it. There isn’t staff at the desk all the time. When you leave, you put your key in a box. The bedding was the letdown: the big square pillows were uncomfortable, and the duvet seemed to be a thick woolly blanket inside a sheet. Neither fitted properly. Standard pillows and a duvet would have been much better. Still, we had a good stay and would come again, but bring our own bedding! Thank you!

We stayed at Zagreb for a concert coming up. The room was standard, with coffee facilities, and the street wasn’t very noisy with the windows shut. We could have used another one or two outlets and another bedside table, and the shower cabin could use an update. The stay was pleasant and the restaurant was good. The two-person plates are quite large. We’d gladly come back and would recommend it.

June 2025. The location worked well for the office, in a nice area with good tram links to the city center. The room was clean, the mattress comfortable, and there’s a good restaurant in the same property. The food there was great. The room was small, including the desk, and traffic right outside made it noisy, though the good windows helped reduce that. The curtains didn’t block the sun, so it was already bright early in the morning. Staff are only onsite when the restaurant is open, for example, not in the morning.

Good value for money, with clean, tidy rooms and a handy location. It’s an easy walk to the train station and from there to the center. Service was okay. The place is really a restaurant, with the hotel as an extra part of the business. I’d recommend staying here.
