Ostsee Residenz

Our child was somewhat happy, but my wife and I were not. We won’t be coming back. My wife injured her foot on the water slide on the first day of our four-day stay and couldn’t walk or stand. The gentleman who took charge was very helpful, including over the following days. The other staff, though, didn’t make much effort to help. They talked about it being a “death sentence” to let her take a quicker route because she was on crutches. At first we thought they were joking, but apparently they weren’t. Neither house was barrier-free, but our single-level one was easier for her. If we’d been in one of the two-storey triangular houses, she couldn’t have gotten to bed. The house was dirty when we arrived. There was black hair hanging from the bed’s headboard, and the floor hadn’t been cleaned. Our companions in the neighboring house also found the kitchen utensils very limited. The resort had told us some things were being repaired after the autumn storm, which explained the reduced price and was fine. But other problems at the Endeckerbad didn’t seem storm-related, such as showers that weren’t working properly. Other areas showed similar neglect.

The indoor play hall and swimming pool were major highlights, with two slides and a spa at the pool. At the play area you can rent inline skates, scooters, or skateboards, and helmets are free to use. The hotel is right by the beach, with freshly renovated rooms, friendly staff, and really good food at the resort’s restaurants. The barmaid at the reception bar was very capable too.

We really liked the family room, it felt like home, with free Wi-Fi and separate quiet rooms. Breakfast and dinner were delicious and satisfying, with a different dinner every day. We probably gained weight, but I enjoyed it and would definitely come back, if not for the crazy weather we had, windy one day and nice the next. The hotel could use faster elevators. Cleaning could improve too, with better vacuum cleaners for all the sand brought back from the beach, or perhaps vacuums guests could use.

The room was perfect, with a sea view from the 11th floor, and the view was amazing 🌅. Dinner at Isfjord restaurant was awesome, and breakfast was tasty too. The elevators were a little slow, so we had to wait, though I think that may have been because of the redesign. Highly recommended 🫶👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
