The beds were a lovely surprise. The mattress in our room was so comfortable, unlike many places we’ve stayed. The room wasn’t huge, but there was enough space for the two of us and to sleep well. It’s a small, charming hotel with welcoming, attentive staff. The food was excellent, and after our massages we felt completely relaxed. The pool and outdoor area are lovely and peaceful, and the setting is great for couples or families. It’s pricey, but worth it. We only wish we could’ve stayed longer.

We’ve already stayed at Bastenhaus twice in two months, which says how much we enjoy it. It’s a family-run hotel with a wonderful restaurant, where you can get German classics as well as more elevated dishes and vegan options. The staff are kind and professional. A special greeting to the cleaning team, who did a great job and were so kind to the children. We’re already looking forward to coming back.

The room was the big disappointment. We paid for a Königstuhl, but the room we got was very small, with an extremely tiny bathroom. It looked and felt more like the Ludwigsturm zimmer shown in the website’s photos and description, rather than the luxurious room we thought we’d booked. When I raised the issue, I was rudely dismissed. The room advertising on the website should be honest. The location itself was beautiful, with an amazing outdoor pool, and the restaurant was nice and served good food.

The staff were friendly, efficient, and nice. The food was good, and Radeberger Bier was a plus. I do wish they had a better Schnaps selection, though. There are plenty of local distilleries they could source from and support, instead of Schladerer.
