The vitello tonnato interpretation was really tasty. The chicken leg and breast came out a little dry, though, and the barley had that slimy, risotto-like texture. The cream puff idea was creative, but it didn’t taste crisp or fresh. Those three dishes came to almost 60 EUR. The service was friendly and helpful, and the food was generally good. Still, nothing felt especially creative or outstanding, even with a Guide Michelin recommendation. The menu could use more variety, and some dish names don’t match what you’d expect. Everything is BIO, and you pay for it. On weekends, book ahead or your options will be limited.

Their house-made lemonades are worth ordering. The food and service were generally good, though the menu could be more specific. One dish was listed as risotto, but it turned out to be rice with vegetables. It wasn’t bad, just not risotto.

I used to count this among my favorite restaurants in the area, so I’m sad to say this may have been my last visit. This rating is only about the Restaurant. Prices have gotten fairly high, the menu has shrunk, and I’m less satisfied overall. After we had a reservation in September 2018, we still waited 1 hour 40 minutes before lunch started. The people at the next table gave up and left after waiting over an hour.

The kids menu is extensive and healthy, with choices for even picky eaters, and the staff are very sweet. It’s a relaxed family-run place, especially nice with children in summer, though the cosy wood-paneled interior is worth seeing too. As a vegetarian in Bavaria, I usually find the options very limited, but Moarwirt has a really good, inventive vegetarian menu. We eat fish too, and I highly recommend that as well. I’m extremely picky about food and the right ambiente, so I don’t say this lightly: this place is fabulous. It’s run with love and an understanding that it doesn’t have to be like every other place. A true gem. Definitely book, and it’s worth the drive from wherever you’re coming. One of our top recommendations in the whole of Oberbayern.
