Hotel Schloss Friedestrom

The breakfast was good, and the rooms had plenty of space. The hotel is right by the entrance to Zons’s historic center. I’d happily return.

Everyone was really friendly, and we could walk to everything, including the Rhine ferry. Our double room was downstairs and faced the road. It had all we needed, though a coffee machine or kettle would have been useful. Instead, they brought us a flask of hot water. Breakfast at 7.30 was very nice. Parking in the underground garage is tight, with only about 6 spaces. There’s a public lot across the road, but you have to pay until 9 pm. The website also needs updating because bikes are no longer available, which was a shame. There’s a Greek place next door serving burgers, pizza, pasta, and other food.

The food was tasty and the staff were nice, though vegetarian choices were limited. It also wasn’t clear which buffet items were vegetarian, so I had to ask. The buffet area felt cramped, and the party cellar was much too dark. It’s a beautiful place otherwise.

Breakfast was excellent, and the bar has an old-school feel. The rooms are clean and spacious, and the hotel is across from the castle entrance. It is a bit expensive, though.
