Hotel Deluxe

The café has a warm atmosphere, and I enjoyed the food. I spent ten days there, from October 1 to October 10, 2024, and there were a few practical problems: most staff spoke German, so getting help was difficult at times; room cleaning took two hours; the shower was broken; and laundry service wasn’t available. The worst moment came after my stay, when friends and family came to help me. The owner acted aggressively and made upsetting remarks, even though I’d always been respectful. I was also locked out at 3 AM once, with nobody available to help, so I had to climb a fence to get to a friend nearby. I can see the hotel’s charm, and I can recommend it for that, but be ready to manage some things yourself and deal with inconveniences. The service and management need a lot of improvement.

Breakfast was delicious, and the service there was exceptional. The room, bed, and bathroom were all really nice and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the bed was GREAT.

I flew in from the U.S. after a long flight with delays, and the hotel left me stranded. Reception closes at 10 pm, but there’s no information about that anywhere. When I arrived late, the owner answered the phone but chose not to open the door. I had to take a taxi to friends in Essen, another 40 minutes away, which cost 150 EURO. The owner was arrogant and disrespectful, and told me in the end that I didn’t need to stay at his hotel. I’ve stayed in hotels from Airbnb to 5 star places across more than 30 countries, and the lack of professionalism at the (NOT) Deluxe Hotel was on another level. This place isn’t suited to business guests who expect professional service. Dorsten has nothing to see anyway, so perhaps it’s fine for pensioners cycling through the nearby fields.

Breakfast was excellent, and the owners were so kind and friendly. My room was modern, tidy, and clean, with a good bed. Highly recommended!
