Villa Ostseewoge

The house is about a 10-minute walk from the sea, which is fantastic. Dranske, the surrounding nature, local people, and shops are all wonderful. But the ground-floor “Galeonsstube” apartment is badly neglected, despite looking spacious and impressive at first, with patios off both the living room and bedroom. The property management either hasn’t checked the problems or hasn’t repaired ones it knew about. We booked through check24 and contacted the landlord there several times. The kitchen’s left ceramic hob barely heats up. The microwave works, but the watt settings don’t make its heating level clear. There are roller shutters on all eight windows, including several very large ones, but the one facing the street by the dining table goes down and won’t come back up. The cleaning was poor too: there was lots of dust and hair in the washroom decorations, behind the fireplace and couch, and by the bedroom bed. The dishwasher didn’t rinse properly, leaving dried detergent on everything, so I had to rinse the dishes after every cycle. Someone came after we reported it and said it was clogged, tried clearing the spray arms and removing limescale, which helped but didn’t fix it. Both baskets are also rusty, leaving rust on all the dishes and cutlery. We’d wanted to use the apparently new washing machine after hiking in sweaty clothes, but couldn’t. The water supply connection couldn’t be moved, so the machine got no water and wouldn’t start. The landlord told us through check24 to send property management a picture of the connection. The next day, the person sent to look at the dishwasher only understood it was the washing machine after I showed them both machines. They called property management, who said a plumber would handle it after an appointment was arranged, but we’d already left. There are silverfish in the bathroom. Water also seems to get into the door frame when people shower without closing the doors, and there’s visible water damage there. Garbage collection was another problem: paper and cardboard are collected only once a month, and the bin was already completely full, with stones on the lid to hold it down. The yellow plastics bin was overflowing too. Nobody told us the local schedule or handled the bins. I happened to see that the black and brown bins were due on the second day of our stay, Monday, after they were put out Sunday night, so I put out ours at Villa Ostseewoge too. Since I didn’t know the schedule, the blue paper and plastic bins remained full.
