The kitchen was well equipped, which was great since I like making my own meals. The rooms had what I needed to be comfortable, and the staff were attentive and really friendly. It’s a pleasant place with great prices, only about a 10-minute walk from the central station. Definitely recommend it, 10/10.

I come here whenever I’m in Dresden for metal shows, since it’s affordable and has what I need for an overnight stay. This time I booked one night in a mixed six-bed dorm, but they offered to move me to an all-female dorm at no extra cost. That made me feel safer, and there were only two of us, so we had great conversations all night. The room was neat and clean, with the facilities needed for a good rest. The staff were super friendly and helpful.

I was there for just one night and it was fine. The hostel was clean, the staff were friendly, and booking went smoothly. I didn’t have breakfast or a packed lunch or dinner, since those weren’t included and I hadn’t paid for them, so I can’t rate the food. I don’t understand why weekend prices are double. Checking in online also brought up a bed maintenance fee, which was disappointing, especially after being told direct bookings could save a percentage. It felt much like an online booking fee. The location was okay. We ran out of toilet paper late at night, and I know we could have asked, but it’d help to have more than two rolls when the room has a lot of beds. The corridors felt spooky and uncomfortable, and could use improvement. Please accept cash too, since not every traveler has a credit or forex card.

I was given an unclean room and asked to move, or to get a bunk bed if no standard bed was available. I also asked for fresh bed covers and the other basic amenities to be replaced. The receptionist handed me the items and said it was a two-star hotel, so I’d have to sort it out myself. That response was unacceptable and showed very poor customer service. Jim and the other reception staff, by comparison, have been outstanding and showed the hospitality I’d expect. I’d heard that customer service in Germany could be lacking, and unfortunately this experience reinforced that impression. It’s disappointing conduct, whatever the hotel’s rating.
