ARCOTEL Hafencity

The old town is close by, which worked perfectly for our Christmas market visit, and we’ll likely stay here again when we return to Dresden. The hotel was clean and well looked after, and breakfast was fresh and nicely presented each morning. Thanks to the whole team, especially Mauritus (sorry if I’ve got the spelling wrong). He was so kind and patient with us at breakfast every morning. The staff really add a lot to the hotel.

We found the location convenient, with a tram stop just steps away and the city center easy to reach. The hotel is right by the river, and the modern rooms were spacious and well maintained, though we did miss having a minibar fridge. Breakfast had plenty of fresh food and drinks and was delicious. Staff were friendly, professional and ready to help. A comfortable, relaxing stay that I’d recommend for work or a holiday.

The restaurant is spot on in every respect. I’ve been coming back for more than two years because I love this hotel, and it gets most things right. But as my partner uses a wheelchair, we always reserve an accessible room, and learned that this doesn’t also secure us a designated parking space. Several times the spaces marked for disabled guests were occupied by regular guests. That felt like a lack of empathy, social callousness, or plain rudeness. The hotel needs policies that make sure disabled guests can get the parking they need after a long journey.

The bed was the one major letdown. We asked for a king size bed when booking, then found the hotel makes one by pushing two single beds together. That feels misleading. Please provide proper beds for two, or don’t list a king size option in the online booking. Thank you.
