Hotel Aviv

A real gem. It's an easy place to reach from the highway, and parking is free. The stop right in front makes getting downtown simple, about 15 minutes by public transport. Breakfast is included, the rooms are clean and pleasant, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Definitely worth staying at.

The air conditioning provides heat, but it makes the room's air extremely dry. On the plus side, parking is free and there's a kettle in the room. The standard room felt a little small for two, though it was okay, and breakfast was good for the price. Public transport is close by, with Lines 1 and 68 making it easy to reach the Old Town. Lidl and Edeka are nearby too.

After a long day of travel, I got to the door at 10:30 p.m. in 1°C and couldn't get into the hotel because they'd cancelled my stay. I called, and the woman said they'd notified whoever booked it, but no notification had reached them. This feels more like a boutique hotel, and I found it less trustworthy than a larger chain.

The hotel's about 15 minutes from the city center by tram or bus, which was fine, though there isn't much to do nearby. I was in Dresden for sightseeing and just wanted a basic, clean room, and this felt like good value. Breakfast was fairly priced and the hotel staff were all helpful. The one drawback was the sole elevator being out of order for five days. I visited over Christmas, so that seemed somewhat understandable.
