Motel One Dresden-Palaisplatz

Neustadt Bahnhof and the Elbe River are easy to reach from here. The staff were friendly and the rooms comfortable. If you enjoy walking, it’s a beautiful 30-minute walk to Altstadt.

We stayed for two nights in early December 2024 and would come back if we return to Dresden. The location worked well for us, about a 10-minute walk from the train station and under 20 minutes on foot to the old town. Staff were very friendly, especially the late-shift barman, who was such a pleasant person and always made you smile. Our double room was clean and the bed was comfortable, though the room was definitely small, just as the pictures and description show. We didn’t have breakfast.

We stayed one night with our cat, and it was nice to find a pet-friendly hotel. The room was a little small for two, but workable, including for getting some work done. There was also a workspace with power and Wi-Fi in the lounge. In summer, the room’s air conditioning helped a lot. Underground parking was available for 18 euros a day. Whenever we had questions, the staff replied quickly through the website. A comfortable, friendly place.

For a solo traveller staying just a couple of days, this is a good option. With two people and more than one bag, we felt cramped, and the reception staff weren’t especially welcoming. It’s clean, modern, and comfortable. The location is convenient if you’re using the train station and its shops, an eight-minute walk away, or if you’re happy to take the tram to the central district. Just make sure you choose the right one, as there’s another Motel One on the other side of the city.
