We stayed five nights in apartment 6, and the place was dirty, worn out, and in poor repair. It smelled musty, the walls had dead mosquitoes and food stains on them, and the shower tray was rusting. The cleanliness really left a lot to be desired. The manager arrived in a Porsche. Calling about the guest cards we’d forgotten turned into a real ordeal. We tried several times, and the person we spoke with was unpleasant, curt, and aggressive. We love Cuxhaven and Duhnen, but this management company won’t get any more of our money. I’d tell people to steer clear of this rental.

The one good thing was how close it is to the beach. The stay itself was a huge disappointment. The apartment was dirty when we arrived, the balcony was filthy, and the old furnishings were worn. The bunk beds were in particularly poor condition. In the bathroom, the shower cubicle was damaged and barely usable, and the sink was clogged. There was often an unpleasant musty smell, too. A nearby football pitch meant hours of noise several times a week, with clubs training and playing, so relaxing was out of the question. The landlady was very hard to reach by phone; when I did get through, she was rude and sometimes cheeky. I was also charged for alleged damage during my stay. It seems to me the apartment is being renovated little by little at tenants’ expense. I can’t recommend this accommodation.

The beach, restaurants, and a bakery are all nearby, which is the main advantage. We stayed in Apartment 1, which was perfectly adequate for two, with garden seating and a very clean, well-furnished interior. The mattresses were very good, and the bed slats could be adjusted for height. I would have liked a balcony, but we’d gladly come back.
